LOTF...Blog 5

Ralph looks out at the ocean like looking at a brick wall. He sees the ocean as a wall blocking his way to civilization and the only way he can get to civilization is to get rescued. With the two groups now starting to separate Ralph now has little control over the whole group. Jack has taken a group of hunters into the jungle and Jack went with them to find the pig that they injured. They follow a blood trail leading them to the pig. Ralph is the first one to throw his spear at it and he is the one to try to stab it, but the pig gets away. At this point I thought that Ralph was going to start turning into Jack and get a thrill from killing and start to turn into a savage.

All the boys excited by the thrill of the chase start to dance. Robert one of the boys pretends to be the pig they were chasing. The boys form a circle around him jabbing him there spears forgetting that the whole thing was just a game. The savages/ boys nearly killed Robert in the whole process of the game.

The hunting trip is now going into the night. The boys volunteer Simon to go back to camp and tell Piggy they will not be back until morning. The boys are now climbing the mountain, on Jacks commands, and sees what they thought was the beastie. Jack the supposedly tough guy runs away from the ape like figure moving in the breeze. What the characters do not know is that the beastie on the mountain is only the pilot with the parachute dead swinging in the breeze. This foreshadows the fear and suspenseful moments yet to come.

The next day Jacks savage and barbarian- like group go on yet another hunting trip and kill the pig. They leave the pigs head on a stick for the beastie hoping it would leave them alone. Jack is trying to force upon everybody that they have to have fun and have to be savage- like to be with his “tribe.” During all of this Simon faints and the tribe leaves without him.
