To start off the last section of the book Magwitch gets sentenced to death, but Pip continues to visit him and tries to free him. On the day of Magwitch’s death sentence, Pip told him that Molly and Estella are still alive, and he dies in peace. Pip prays for him. It is bad that Pip is still thinking about Magwitch being a benefactor to him and the fact that he won’t be receiving any money anymore.
A little while later, Pip becomes quite sick and is arrested for all of his debts. I think this is good because maybe he will live and learn from his financial mistakes. Joe comes to help out Pip in his time of need, but I really do not think Pip deserves it from Joe. As Pip recovers, Joe tells him some news from back home. One of the things he tells him is that Miss Havisham died. This surprised me because I thought she would live after Pip had saved her from the fire. Orlick was in jail which does not surprise anyone. Joe also told him that Biddy was teaching him how to read and write, which I think is a plus for Joe.
Joe stayed in London for awhile longer and then left one morning while Pi was asleep. Pip soon came to realize that Joe had paid all of Pip’s debts. Joe really should not have done that in my opinion. Pip goes back home to thank him and decides to marry Biddy when he gets there. This was really a grab- your- attention- kind- of- of- thing- because just out of the blue he decides to go back and get married. When Pip gets home, he realizes that Joe and Biddy had gotten married. This I thought to be quite funny because he went all the way back home just to found out that his heart was broken. He did not feel as bad as I thought he would and he was actually happy for them. Pip goes back to England eleven years later. He has learned that hard work is important. The ending really threw me off guard when Estella and Pip decided they were meant for each other.
