Great Expectations pg 340, Dec. 6th

To start it off in this reading Pip brings Magwitch downriver. Slowly but surely all of Pip’s feelings are all starting to come together in his mind and slowly him down physically and mentally. Pip is trying to get rid of his debt to Magwitch because I think does not want to be under his ruling any longer. I think Pip can get out of his debt on his own time. When he leaves Magwitch he then goes to the theatre to relax. Pip soon learns from Wopsle that other convicts are in the theatre and suspects the he is being looked after. In my opinion, the convict will not harm Pip, but rather make an accusation with him.

Pip then goes to see Miss Havisham who is devastated by hurting Pip’s heart. Pip cannot deal with all the stress so he goes out to take a walk in the garden. Pip reminds me of me. He does not handle stress very well. And when he is in a difficult situation he quits. While in the garden Pip gets this weird feeling as though something has happened to Miss Havisham. So he runs into the house and up the stairs to find her bent over the fireplace. He saved her before it was too late, but both were badly burned. I think Miss Havisham was trying to commit suicide because of how badly she made Pip feel. Pip goes to Herbert’s house to get new bandages for his burns. The two of them get to talking and discover that Magwitch and Molly were once married and that Estella was there long lost daughter. They both brought this information to Mr. Jaggers so he could confirm. Pip then finds that Herbert is being transferred. They are both in awe, but somewhere in the middle of this it all became worse. Pip finds a secret note that tells Pip to "meet in the marshes and come alone". Pip then goes to his childhood home and stays at an Inn. He realizes how much of a jerk he has been to Joe and regrets that he has lost his friendship. Pip is finally getting the “big picture”, in my opinion. He is really seeing things up close for the first time.

That night Pip went to the marshes to see what the mystery person wanted. He waited and within minutes he had been tied up and bound. He could not see who it was until a flash of light his face to reveal Orlick. Orlick wanted revenge on Pip for losing his woman. This surprised me because I thought Orlick had left the book long ago. He admits to killing Mrs. Joe and now will kill Pip. Within seconds of death Herbert bursts in and saves Pip and then rushes off to resume Magwitch's departure. If I was Pip I would be thankful for having a friend like Herbert.

While leaving to get Magwitch out they are cut off by a boat. It was Copeyson who ratted them out. Magwitch and Copeyson get into a fight and they submerge into the water, but only Magwitch resurfaces. He said he did not kill him, but I think otherwise.
